CT Support Group project
Peer support, by and for young people in CT.
The CT Support Group is a young adult-run project offering connection, peer support, and community to young people across Connecticut. The virtual platforms allow young people to share their journeys and content creations, drop in on hosted Discord events, and find support groups and other options throughout the state.
If you are a teen or young adult in CT, you can also connect with a young adult Recovery Support Specialist for one-to-one support, free of charge, in English or Spanish, virtual or in-person.
A peer supporter is a real person who has been through their own mental health, substance, gender, or other struggles and is trained to listen, share, and help you figure out what comes next. Peer support can help you feel more connected and make sense of things. Peer support can stand alone, or can be an addition to working with a counselor. It’s free & there’s no time limit!
I’ve had 6 students come to me with concerns about a peer or friend that they became aware of after your QPR training. All these students brought forward valid and concerning situations and shared that the training helped them feel more confident addressing concerns and seeking help. Thank you again for the impact of this work—it’s clearly making a difference.
We are so fortunate to have Positive Directions serving Fairfield County- the team is compassionate, professional and extremely talented – I highly recommend them for young people and their families in need of their services.
Positive Directions is tremendous resource for our communities. The work done by this agency in all aspects of mental health and well-being is exceptional!
Positive Directions’ leadership of The Norwalk Partnership coalition gives us tools and resources that as partnering organizations and individuals we likely wouldn’t have otherwise. For example, the data from the youth surveys, where queer and marginalized youth have consistently shown up as highest risk, has created momentum and opportunities for Triangle Community Center to push on initiatives and programs specifically supporting the LGBTQIA+ community.
It was great being in your [training] session today. I learned a ton!
What a great addition Jennifer was to our school community. She connected with many students who seek her out, and she made an impact on their decision making and coping skills.
How groups work.

Our support groups meet weekly or biweekly, online. Our CT Support Group project offers 1:1 support on demand.
Show up
Join via Zoom any time you want. There’s no expectation that you’ll come weekly, and you only have to share if you want to. Everything is confidential.
Stay as long as it is helpful
There is no waiting list and no end date. Come for one session or come for years.
Need a different kind of support?
Counseling, medication management, and prevention programs are all part of what we do. We can also help you find other peer support options.
